Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) has upgraded the automation system at its regional station in Ipoh to Netia Radio-Assist 8.1. ‘This upgrade to Radio-Assist 8.1 will introduce greater efficiency and productivity while requiring very little training,’ says Netia’s APAC Operations Manager, Benjamin Schvent. ‘Radio-Assist’s ease of use and performance will support even the most complex operations and streamline RTM’s workflow for multiplatform media delivery.’

Based in Kuala Lumpur, RTM operates four television channels (TV1, TV2, IMRT, Muzik Aktif), six national radio stations, two international stations (Voice of Malaysia), and 16 regional stations. Today, 13 of those regional centres operate with complete installations of Radio-Assist software, which covers each part of the production and broadcast workflow. Netia’s Radio-Assist family of digital audio software programs has been in use at RTM for more than a decade.

The Ipoh station worked with Singapore-based Broadcast Communications International (BCI) to transition to the latest software release and begin working with new features including the Activity Watcher module.

With its Radio-Assist 8.1 upgrade, RTM in Ipoh will gain a variety of added features. Radio-Assist 8.1’s new audit module, also called Activity Watcher, enables administrators at RTM to trace and check all modifications made on the playlist and across the entire Radio Assist 8.1 system. With this tool, users can keep tabs on details such as the users who have connected and disconnected and what kind of items have been deleted.

‘We have a long and successful relationship with RTM, and we’re pleased to see the broadcaster taking advantage of the new enhancements in Radio-Assist 8.1,’ said Colin Tan at BCI. ‘With more functionality than ever available from its familiar user interface, Radio-Assist 8.1 makes it easier for radio stations and groups to meet the demands of today’s media consumers.’
