US company Time Matters Entertainment recently expanded its inventory with a number of EDC Acoustics loudspeakers – 27 SQ-90 enclosures, 12 SC-30 enclosures, four SC-60 enclosures and 24 SS-3 subwoofers.’

David Curtinsmith, Director at EDC Acoustics and Taylor Hobart of Time Matters Entertainment ‘Our company handles a lot of high-end social and corporate meetings as part of our live events business,’ says Time Matters Entertainment owner, Taylor Hobart. ‘EDC is perfect for events where speech intelligibility is important – clients notice the loudspeakers’ high degree of intelligibility without us even asking. The ability to steer the tops and subs has given us the ability to do things we couldn’t even dream of before.’

Of a recent project that the company’s new loudspeakers helped address what would have otherwise been challenging in terms of sound reinforcement, Hobart reports: ‘We have a local park with an event stage and, in the past, it’s been a struggle keeping the sound inside the park without bothering the surrounding offices and high-rise condominiums. With their previous rig, they had to enforce an 85dB limit on all events. We introduced them to EDC, showed them how this equipment could address this matter, and it solved their issues.’

‘With the EDC system, we created uniform coverage from front to back of the venue and steered the beam so that it stayed on the lawn. We can steer up to120°, both horizontally and vertically. On the edge of the beam, it drops off 21dB with three or more tops, -18dB with two tops. When you are in the beam, you hear the power and feel it. When you are outside of the beam, the sound is clear and intelligible but drops in dB level and energy so as not to be a problem.’

Hobart is equally happy with the DSP capabilities the system offers: ‘The EDC Acoustics Rapid app on IOS has been key to us being able to deploy this system quickly using the virtual beam tuning and configuration capabilities,’ he says. ‘With this app, we can tune a system once physically configured quickly. Nothing else on the market does that. Even the most complex steering takes just hours. Typically, we are tuned in about 45 minutes on a system with a LR cluster and two delays.

‘EDC Acoustics products offer cutting edge technology with a high level of dependability and great support,’ he adds. ‘We have a local rep who helps us address any issues we might encounter, and the owner of EDC Acoustics has been very responsive to our questions and clearly cares both about us and his company’s product. It’s been a very positive experience.
