On a hilltop on the southernmost tip of Bali island in Badung is White Rock Beach Club, a 3,000-capacity venue with breathtaking views over the Indian Ocean and a spectacular Void Acoustics sound system.

White Rock Beach Club, Bali (Pic: Indoteknik)Indoteknik, Void’s distributor in Indonesia, handled the design, specification and integration of the system in its entirety. The brief was for exceptional sound with a look to complement the clean modern design of the beach-club’s architecture. ‘Void’s unique speaker design and fibreglass outers were the perfect solution, addressing the desire for a distinctive look,’ explains Suwandi Anggono, Director of Audio and AV integrator

White Rock Beach Club features an impressive DJ booth and lawn dancefloor; cabanas; private suites; a restaurant; a pool bar accessible from the cliff-top infinity pool and multiple seating. With such a variety of distinct spaces adding to the complexities of the installation, the Void kit list at the venue uses loudspeakers from the sculpted, IP-55 rated Cyclone Series and the futuristic Indigo Series.

The club is fully exposed to the outside environment from its location, so it was essential the loudspeakers are robust in design and fully weatherproofed. Cyclone 55, Cyclone 10 and Cyclone Bass fixtures were specified for the outdoor areas of the club, with their UV resilient fibreglass finish able to withstand the hot sun. And with their weather protected IP-55 rating they can tolerate exposure to the salty sea air and coastal wind without fear of rusting or degrading the audio output. ‘A perfect combination adding to the overall aesthetic of the venue whilst embracing the harsh outdoor conditions,’ Anggono says.

Additional consideration was given to loudspeaker positioning to ensure even audio coverage throughout, whilst avoiding audio overlap. ‘We needed to ensure that the system produced clear sound even on windy days,’ Anggono says. ‘The venue has a long footprint, across 7,500sq-m, and this configuration, combined with potential strong wind conditions on occasion, meant we had to align the speakers to ensure the whole venue was covered.’

Other areas of the venue feature the Indigo 6S and Indigo Subs providing versatile fixtures with a touch of stylish elegance perfect for bar and restaurants as well as beach clubs. The recently re-furbished DJ booth is equipped with Venu 15 V2 – the largest of the Venu Series loudspeakers, Stasys 218 and Stasys 118 from Void’s flagship point source series. The entire audio deployment is supported by Void’s easy-to-use Bias amplifier.

White Rock Beach Club, Bali (Pic: Indoteknik)This was a new installation for club owner Robin Makmur, who had previously heard a Void Acoustics system elsewhere, and was inspired by the combination of audio excellence and the design aesthetic that features heavily in all Void products. He knew he needed a similar system for his designer beach club.

‘I’m so glad that I chose Void Acoustics products in the white finish, which perfectly harmonises with our decor and the modern aesthetics of the club,’ he says. ‘The sound of the speakers is crisp and beautiful, with super high-quality sounds that all our guests enjoy. There is no doubt these speakers have helped elevate the music of the international artists that perform at White Rock Beach Club.’

In the outdoor beach club sector where sturdy and long-lasting products play such an important part in the club-goers’ experience, it is clear that Void Acoustics are gaining a strong foothold with their reputation for excellence in audio quality and unique product design.
