Calrec has stuck a partnership with broadcast audio specialist Cerberus Media Solutions, bringing the UK-based broadcast audio systems manufacturer within easier reach of German broadcasters.

Bavaria-based Cerberus Media Solutions was set up in 2023, with company co-founder Rene Harder taking on the role of Managing Director following a career working across pro-audio IT technology/software creation and technical business development.

Dave Letson and Rene Harder‘We founded Cerberus Media Solutions for the distribution of pro audio products to broadcasters across Germany,’ he says. ‘We could clearly see there were – and are – significant gaps in the market across the country when it comes to broadcast IP technologies and understanding, alongside remote production deployment. Calrec leads the market globally across these fields: this is a huge win for us and for the German broadcast sector.’

‘We’ve been particularly impressed with Cerberus’ support infrastructure and exceptional level of technical understanding,’ says Calrec VP of Sales, Dave Letson. ‘One of the key challenges of pushing much further into the German market is not only gaining sales, but the ability to support customers through a transition to IP and in the long term with a clear understanding of German workflows. Cerberus absolutely has this covered, which is vital for German broadcasters.

‘The problems Cerberus has identified across the German market, Calrec already has solutions for,’ Letson continues. ‘One of the key topics we have discussed is the challenges around remote production – an area in which we are hugely experienced, with a global reputation for excellence via already-implemented solutions with broadcasters of all sizes.

‘Calrec has well-established relationships with many system integrators who operate across the German market via projects completed in other countries. These system integrators already have a good level of understanding with Cerberus able to leverage this to everyone’s advantage.’

‘Spending time with Calrec, it’s mind-blowing the level at which Calrec is operating when it comes to IP,’ Harder adds. ‘We’re talking about fully future-proofed solutions, scalable from the relatively simple with the small form factor, powerful Type R remote mixing capabilities, right up to the flagship Argo. We can create structured, elegant workflows, tailored to specific broadcasters’ needs. Calrec has long-standing relationships with other manufactures and huge real-world experience of deploying SMPTE 2110 and NMOS systems.’

He also highlights the fact that Calrec is part of the Audiotonix group of pro-audio brands, meaning practical benefits for customers when it comes to component purchasing power and wider supply chain issues – which remains a key challenge across the industry.
