Set in the Oxfordshire countryside, Heythrop Park Warner Hotel offers a spa, golf course, traditional sports areas, and 440 acres of luscious parkland. It also boasts two live entertainment spaces – The Theatre for West End shows, and The Late Lounge for late nights and dancing. Heythrop’s management team knew they needed a concert-grade sound system but also needed to keep spill into other hotel areas under control. And, given Heythrop Park’s blend of historical significance and luxury amenities, keeping the aesthetic carefully groomed in the building was paramount.

The hotel team turned to Illuminate Design Ltd, an audiovisual provider specialising in hospitality, to oversee the specification of all A/V elements for both spaces. L-Acoustics Certified Provider Distributor Audiotek won the tender to design and provide the loudspeaker systems, proposing use of L-Acoustics A Series systems with L-Acoustics Soundvision modelling software to determine optimal placement of the loudspeaker elements.

‘We chose L-Acoustics A Series for its control in both the vertical and horizontal planes and its unparalleled size-to-volume ratio,’ explains Audiotek UK Director, Christopher Kmiec. ‘We knew we’d get L-Acoustics concert-grade sound with consistent and exceptional audio quality throughout.’

The sound system for the Late Lounge comprises LR hangs of three A10i in a mix of Wide and Focus models, with four companion KS21i subwoofers are mounted under the stage. A X8 coaxial enclosure is used for centre fill while, two further X8 boxes are used for side-fill and two X12 provide delay fill. The system is powered by five LA4X amplified controllers. In the Theatre, the LR system includes four A10i Focus per side, with four KS21i subwoofers flown beside each array. One X8 is used for centre fill, with four X12 available for stage monitoring. Four LA4X amplified controllers drive the main system, with a further LA4X for stage monitors.

The audio system has won positive feedback from Heythrop Park guests, who now enjoy concert-grade sound in both entertainment spaces. ‘We are proud to have provided guests with a world-class audio experience,’ concludes Kmiec. ‘A Series is a powerful, elegant solution that makes perfect sense for luxury hospitality venues such as Heythrop Park.’
