Each year, the French school of architecture in Tournai, Belgium, organises the Journée et Nuit de l’Architecture (JNDA), turning a disused industrial site into a conference venue as well as a showcase for artistic and cultural performances. At dusk, the venue becomes a concert hall, with three stages dedicated to EDM, urban and alternative music. More than 4,000 visitors descended on the former 7,000sq-m Louis Carton industrial workshop for the 2018 event, where Yes Event managed the audio set up of all three stages, using APG PA systems.

Journée et Nuit de l’Architecture‘Choosing the Uniline Compact was a no-brainer for us, as we were looking for a discreet but powerful sound system to fit the raw environment of this old industrial workshop’ says Yes Event CEO, Frédéric Van Durmen. ‘Thanks to its compact size and excellent modularity, the Uniline was the perfect fit for both the venue and the eclectic line-up.’

The main stage for the event was dedicated to EDM using Uniline Compact system comprising 12 UC206N rigged loudspeakers coupled and four UC206W for front-fill. Completing the set up were six UC115B subs and six SB118 infra-bass subs, along with two APG SMX15 stage monitors. Amplification was provided by four SA30 and a DMS48 amplifiers from APG. Four UCTruss rigging accessories were used to create the UC speaker cluster, bringing high precision and long-range coverage, with another four UCStacks secured the sound system on the floor.

The Urban stage was equipped with four SMX15 speakers, with four high-power TB118S subs and two SMX15 for onstage monitoring. Two SA30 amplifiers and a DMS26 provided the power.

For the Alternative stage, Yes Event deployed eight UC206N loudspeakers in a line array configuration, two UC206W for front fill, four dedicated UC115B bass speakers and four SB118s subs. Onstage monitoring used eight DX12 coaxial speakers. Amplification was handled by four APG class-D DA50:4 amplifiers.

‘The Uniline Compact has met all our expectations by delivering the required sound pressure regardless of the music genre,’ Van Durmen reports. ‘Both the fans and the artists praised the sound quality, and commented on the impressive power produced by such a compact sound system.’
