With a ten-year history, two sites and five studios across Soho and Fitzrovia, Voiceover Soho has extablished itself as one of the most professional, creative and friendly voice recording and audio postproduction facilities in London. Studio owner Peter Morris cites both equipment and a unique and appealing space as essential components for a successful facility.

Voiceover Soho‘Our aim was to provide a complete solution, covering projects from start to finish, which is why Dolby Atmos is so essential,’ he says. ‘We can now mix in 7.1, ADR and Dolby Atmos. This gives us a huge advantage. With the dominance Dolby have on the industry it is essential to have Atmos as a key component of our studio, thereby future-proofing the services we offer.’

Having found a unique space Morris turned to HHB to help him with workflow advice and choice of equipment, with a clear brief to make the facility as adaptable as possible to meet current and future client needs.

This approach was the main driver for the concept and execution of the new space in Fitzrovia. Morris wanted to create a production facility covering all areas of audio postproduction, music production, voiceover and ADR. The resulting Dolby Atmos equipped facility features an Avid S6 M10 work surface, Pro Tools 12, DAD AX32 I/O, a Genelec 7.1.4 monitoring system and Dolby Atmos HT-RMU rendering unit.

‘HHB’s tech know-how is absolutely brilliant,’ Morris says. ‘To see them championing two of my favourite brands – Genelec and Avid – made the option a no-brainer. They also introduced me to the Atmos specialists at Dolby and after a lot of discussion with both HHB and Dolby it became very clear that Atmos was a trend that I had to embrace.’

‘It’s a very exciting time for Dolby Atmos and its integration into the professional studio workflow,’ observes HHB CTO, John Johnson. ‘Peter fully recognises the demand in for Dolby Atmos ready environments and has delivered a unique and impressive concept with the newest addition to Voiceover Soho’s portfolio of studio spaces’
