Shown at the Pro Light ¶ Sound show earlier in 2011, the K-array KH4/KS4 line arrays now have revised rigging mechanics. The improvements mean that a KH4/KS4 rig can be transported ‘in the most compact form possible’.

The K-array KH4 self-powered, two-way line array speaker system offering 120° horizontal coverage. It has the capability for varying the vertical coverage from 7° (line array applications) to 37° (stand-alone), and is intended for medium-to-long-throw applications in theatre, stadia, house of worship and concert hall applications.

The KH4 uses 12 8-inch cone drivers with 2.5-inch voice coils for low-mid frequencies, powered by six power amplifier channels. The mid-high frequency section uses five 1.75-inch voice coil compression drivers mounted on 1-inch x 4-inch constant directivity waveguides. A mechanical system can provide different vertical coverage from 7° to 37° on each KH4. An internal DSP module provides configuration presets. Dedicated remote control software allows for control of the speaker from a computer.

Used with the KS4 self-powered dipole subwoofer, the KH4 proves a high-performance large-scale solution but also be used with the KH15 satellite, and KO70, KO40 self-powered subbass elements.

On arrival at a venue, the top metal ‘tray’ is lifted by rigging winches and the array follows suit, each element automatically aligning itself into the correct position for the required vertical coverage pattern. On de-rig, the array is lowered, the KS4 sub positioned correctly on the detachable wheeled trolley and each element follows naturally into its correct, stacked position for transport.

The revised mechanics save both truck space and time.
