Marking a strategic change to its distribution arrangements in Portugal and the Portuguese speaking territories (PALOP), Powersoft has appointed Merging Select as the agent for its amplification and process control devices in Portugal, as well as Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Equatorial Guinea. Powersoft joins Nexo, TW Audio, AuviTran, Steinberg and Yamaha on the company’s portfolio.

Merging SelectLisbon-based Merging Select was founded in 2007 by Wladimiro Garrido and João Velhinho: ‘It’s a privilege to distribute Powersoft, with its outstanding pedigree and high technology amplifiers, to the huge market of Portugal and the African Portuguese-speaking countries,’ Velhinho says. ‘Powersoft’s innovations never cease to surprise us – the amplification and DSP have developed immensely, making a major impact on sound systems through their quality, reliability and level of control.

‘Such a range of advanced tools should be exploited to the full, and Merging Select will squeeze the last drop of this technology in favour of our clients’ needs.’

Alongside its activities as a distributor, Merging Select places a high value on education: ‘We don’t merely offer products but also the services involved such as training and consultation,’ Velhinho  explains. ‘Together with Powersoft, we will help our customers understand the advantages and hidden depths of these technologies via Powersoft Sound School sessions.’

The appointment has the full approval of Marketing & Sales Director Luca Giorgi and Regional Account Manager (EMEA) Stefano Previtali, who confirm that Wladimiro Garrido had already been subjected to in-depth product training at the company’s Italian HQ, including new Armonía software applications. ‘When we decided to restructure our business in Portugal we evaluated who was best placed to serve our interests in these varied territories – and Merging Select were the obvious candidates,’ said Previtali.

Already experienced in representing high-end amplifier brands the knowledge transfer was an easy one. ‘No brand other than Powersoft could have filled the gap in our portfolio by raising the levels of satisfaction and reliability requested by our customers,’ Velhinho confirms.

He is confident that the amplifiers will quickly make their mark in both the rental staging and installation segments: ‘Powersoft’s amplifiers meet a wide range of demands, with Installation nowadays becoming ever stronger.’

A programme of seminars and roadshows has already been scheduled for early 2016. ‘Powersoft will support this to enable our clients to better take advantage of their powerful tools,’ he adds. ‘Both companies agree on the importance that education plays. We think exactly the same way, and I can feel a brilliant future coming on.’
