Fully commissioned with an SSL Duality 48-channel hybrid mixing desk/controller, Steve Booker’s Cake Studios marks the 100th control room fitted out by Langdale Technical Consulting using Van Damme cable. Langdale’s Bill Ward reports that, since the introduction of Van Damme in 1987, they have been using the cable almost exclusively for its sonic excellence and long-term durability.
The studio for the Ivor Novello award-winning K producer/songwriter is wired throughout with Van Damme Blue series studio-grade cable serving the Duality console, a 96 channel Pro Tools system and a wealth of high-end analogue outboard gear. The majority of the bespoke cabling was manufactured at VDC’s Kings Cross facility and was specified after close liaison between Ward and VDC Technical Director Nick Chmara – a solution that Langdale and VDC have implemented successfully on a number of previous occasions.
