Finnish loudspeaker manufacturer Amphion has announced One25A, the company’s first three-way active studio monitor. The loudspeaker is designed for use in recording studios, commercial studios, educational facilities, postproduction, classical recording.
‘Some might be a bit surprised about introduction of an active Amphion product, but it must be remembered that One25A’s active three-way, high-resolution filter is simply a natural progression from the active two-way filters that we have used in our Base systems since 2015,’ says Amphion CEO, Anssi Hyvönen. ‘Our design philosophy has always been results – not technology – orientated. So, we use whatever approach we feel works best for a certain product.’
The monitor uses a sealed dual cabinet with isolated bass and midrange chambers to minimise acoustic cross-coupling and provide resolution and clarity. The baffle around the midrange chamber is acoustically symmetrical for a smooth frequency curve and precise imaging, and the design also incorporates the fifth generation of Amphion’s proprietary U/D/D (Uniformly Directive Diffusion) into the loudspeaker for improved driver integration and speaker performance. Resonance and energy transfer are also optimized in the hexagonal bass cabinet design for a rich bass response that feels impactful, but precise. The result is a tight, tuneful reference monitor with all of the speed and accuracy users have come to expect from Amphion.
One25A’s matched amplifiers are located on the exterior and are well isolated from the enclosure, which not only improves performance but ensures long life and easy serviceability as well as adaptation to soffit mounting.

The Amphion One25A is available for pre-order for US$14,900 per pair. Shipping begins in August 2023.
