Clare Solutions upgrades Radio City Music Hall sound
Clair Solutions has completed an upgrade of Radio City Music Hall’s installed sound, replacing all of the theatre’s amplification and DSP in support of the JBL VerTec line array sound reinforcement system.
The Clair Solutions team managed the time-sensitive operation by completing all of the advance prep work in Manheim, Pennsylvania, which allowed them to finish the swap and re-commission the system in seven days.
WXPN installs SSL System T
University of Pennsylvania public radio station WXPN – home of the nationally syndicated World Café music show – has installed a Solid State Logic System T audio production environment. Audio sessions and more are now recorded via a SSL S500 control surface coupled to a 256-path T25 Processor Engine as part of the station’s mission to further connect artists to audiences.
‘We wanted an SSL,’ says Director of Engineering, Jared Styles. ‘We wanted to be able to offer the world-class acts we host all that SSL represents, as well as allowing students and budding audio mixers the opportunity to work with the latest technology from a forward thinking, service-oriented company with the legacy of shaping a standard of classic excellence.’
Big Blues Bender
HAS Productions recently deployed Vue PA systems for the four-day Big Blues Bender at the Plaza Hotel & Casino in Downtown Las Vegas for the third successive year. This marks five years for HAS as the exclusive production team behind the event, which hosted artists including Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Tab Benoit, Samantha Fish and The Marcus King Band.
‘This is a discerning crowd who travel from all over to hear the best of the best,’ says HAS Productions President, Larry Hall. ‘As Blues Bender continues to grow in both attendance and talent, expectations for a world-class listening experience also expand. The loudspeakers are a critical part of the success of this production. Their versatility allows us to configure them to meet the requirements at all five stages, while delivering SPL and fidelity beyond their size.’
Post Traumaticsolo
The current Post Traumaticsolo tour by Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda set out with mix engineers Mike Fanuele and Kevin ‘Tater’ McCarthy sharing a single DiGiCo SD12. After the first show, the SD12 moved on for tour legs in Asia and Europe, and McCarthy – associated with Shinoda for more than a decade – spec’d twof DiGiCo ultra portable SD11i desks for the promo tour that preceded the Asia dates.
‘A lot of people have asked me why I choose the SD11i,’ he reports. ‘Originally, it was just Mike Shinoda and no other band members. The band and additional crew where added after the gear had shipped to Hong Kong. After a few shows, I was comfortable with the all the new inputs and with the 12-fader format, so I decided to keep it. It never came off that table rack. I just popped the lid every day and was ready to go.’
