New World Makati HotelSet in Manila’s economic district, the New World Makati Hotel focuses its services on the Philippines’ prominence in global financial industries, providing premier hotel and conferencing facilities. Keeping its edge in this exacting market saw it recently undertake extensive improvement of the audio distribution systems serving multiple areas of the hotel.

Led by Hanzhel Dizon, local A/V and lighting systems specialist Systech Lighting & Controls built on a prior A/V upgrade project at the hotel, being invited to propose an audio processing and distribution infrastructure to cover the primary ballroom, several meeting spaces, a limited number of guest bedrooms and various hallway areas. The need for reliability was a given – but straightforward operation for the in-house personnel was also high the in its considerations.

Six months on from completion of a Symetrix-based DSP installation, Systech A/V Technical Sales Manager Julius A Bayot is assured of the hotel’s satisfaction: ‘First of all, they love the user interfaces and find them very easy to use,’ he says. ‘Second, the room combining functionality is proving to be a real asset because, in particular, the meeting rooms are used in a variety of different configurations – sometimes separately for small groups, and sometimes together for larger gatherings. They also welcome the fact that it is very easy to add extra inputs if required in the future.’

The new processing configuration comprises one Symetrix SymNet Solus 8 open architecture DSP, one Jupiter 8 fixed architecture DSP and one SymNet Radius 12x8 Dante-scalable DSP. Bayot and his team have also specified Symetrix ARC-2e remote control wall panels – primarily for the purposes of quick and easy volume control.

Further underlining the New World Hotel’s commitment to sophisticated A/V technology, this latest phase of work also saw Systech install JBL ceiling speakers and Lab.gruppen amplifiers to cover the meeting rooms and hallways, as well as a large consignment of Bose speakers in the main ballroom.
