A modern hospital complex with multiple wings, Landesklinikum Amstetten regards regular upgrades of its technical systems an essential part of its remit – recently undertaking an audio processing overhaul.

Landesklinikum AmstettenA long-term A/V collaborator of the Austrian  hospital – which is located 100km from Vienna – was called in to devise an audio processing and distribution infrastructure to cover two of its wings (one new, one legacy) and several seminar rooms, as well as provide monitoring and control of the EVAC and paging systems. As part of the project – installation for which was carried out by a local firm – Schneider Audio Concept Vertriebs (SAC) also specified new loudspeakers, amplifiers and wireless mic systems.

Having specified Audinate’s Dante media networking technology on a number of recent projects, SAC Principal Christian Muhm again chose Dante for flexible connectivity. A Dante-supporting processing hub was a necessity, for which he used a trio of Symetrix SymNet open architecture Dante-scalable DSPs.

‘We have been working as a distributor for Symetrix for about seven years now, and the company’s Dante-capable DSPs have found their way into all manner of projects,’ Muhm reveals. ‘In this case, I selected two SymNet Radius AEC units and one SymNet Edge, along with a single SymNet xIn 12 expander, all connected via fibre. The Symetrix products enable the delivery of background music for the wards, monitor the EVAC/paging system, manage the seminar room audio, and undertake room combining functions as required.’

The compact but powerful set-up allows audio and data signals to be delivered anywhere in any configuration. Loudspeakers and amplifiers from Dynacord, and wireless microphones from Beyerdynamic were also provided by SAC for the project.

‘SAC has done some fantastic work on behalf of Symetrix over the last half-decade, highlighting the benefits of its DSP solutions to an increasingly wide customer-base,’ says Mark Ullrich, International Sales Manager at Symetrix. ‘The deployment of three SymNet DSPs at Landesklinikum Amstetten is a case in point, and will bring reliably enduring processing power and flexibility to this care facility.’
