NHK’s prestigious Music Recording Studios Division has placed an order for three Hapi and two Horus networked audio converters from Merging Technologies. These will be used with a Pro Tools DAW system to record high-sample-rate PCM audio in the studios.

Horus provides audio routing and format conversion, along with microphone preamplification an input and output connection node to Ravenna IP audio networks. Hapi also Ravenna/AES67 able, and serves as an extension to Horus-based installation where control room I/O is required. It can also be used as the interface for smaller systems. The units will be supported by nine AD8DP input boards and nine DA8P digital-to-analogue converters.

The Merging units were supplied via Tokyo-based system integrator Mix Wave Inc, who is also responsible for the API Vision mixing consoles that are a further part of the installation. Merging’s Japan distributor, DSP, handled the deal.
