Asian GamesThe Asian Games is set to begin with Bel Digital Audio HD audio monitors/de-embedders in use across each venue and in broadcast trucks. A total of 60 Bel Digital Audio units are being used by the International Host Broadcaster (IHB) across each venue and in broadcast trucks  event, which is being held in Incheon, South Korea.

The games comprise 439 events in 36 sports and take place across 49 venues and 48 training facilities. Thirty-seven of the competition venues are located in and around the host city of Incheon with ten venues created especially for the games, including the first ever purpose-built cricket ground in South Korea. The main stadium is called the Incheon Asiad Stadium and has all-seat capacity of 61,074.

The units were chosen because of their compact size. Additionally, Bel was able to supply the units to very tight deadlines to meet the IHB’s schedules. The devices are capable of monitoring 3G/HD/SD video and multichannel audio sources and each provides a pair of auto-detecting 3G/HD/SD SDI inputs, also accepting eight analogue audio inputs and four AES-3id pairs.

Audio inputs are displayed on eight high-resolution tricoloured LED bargraphs. The user selects whether they wish to view Channels 1-8, or 9-19. Each channel can be routed to the magnetically shielded front panel speakers using dedicated push buttons located below each bargraph. Audio Channels 1-8 are also provided as AES-3id and analogue outputs on the rear panel. An SDI re-clocked loop-through connector is provided, enabling connection to downstream equipment.

The monitor/de-embedders were supplied via Bel Digital’s South Korean distributor Soundfox International, based in Seoul.
