Appearing with her Acoustic Band, Turkish pop superstar Sezen Aksu broke a two-year haitus to perform live at Istanbul’s Harbiye Open Air Theater, recently. Having toured Europe with local audio rental company Altincizme and a pair of Soundcraft Vi Series consoles, the same set-up was used for her homecoming gig.
With a Vi1 at FOH and Vi6 for monitors, FOH sound engineer Serdar Altincizme says he swears by the two-screen’ operation of the Vi, while monitor engineer Kenan Ozkaplan is equally happy with his Vi6 .
‘I always request the Soundcraft Vi desks, and it seems like regardless of where I go, the companies are able to provide them,’ Altincizme says. ‘There is no substitute, for all the emotions Ms Aksu’s songs portray, the Vi simply absorbs it smoothly and transmits it to the audiences.’
Altincizme was the first Turkish PA company to purchase and use the Vi6 when it was first manufactured. Prior to that, the family business – founded in 1955 by the late Necdet Altincizme and managed by his sons Serdar and Serhan Altincizme – claimed more then two decades’ use of Soundcraft’s analogue line. Today the company owns two Vi6 consoles, two Vi1 consoles with stageboxes for each.
Altincizme also receives good local support and service from Samim Mutluer, from Harman Professional distributor, SF Ses ve Isik Sistemleri. ‘These desks are now in demand on almost every single rider,’ Serdar says. ‘With a comfortable interface and premium preamps, it’s easy to see why we prefer them.’
