The 2026 SCAD Savannah Film Festival is being supported by Alcons Audio as Production Partner, bringing its pro-ribbon cinema technology to the SCAD Museum of Art Cinema and the Lucas Theatre for the Arts. Combining existing installations with supplementary systems for the festival, the collaboration puts accurate sound reproduction at the heart of the screening experience, preserving the detail, dynamics and emotional impact of filmmakers’ work.
Presented by the Savannah College of Art and Design, the festival returned to Savannah, Georgia, in October. Now in its 29th edition, the event brings together established industry professionals, emerging filmmakers, students and film enthusiasts for eight days of screenings, panels, workshops and conversations celebrating cinema.
The SCAD cinema uses three CR3 three-way pro-ribbon systems for left, centre and right screen channels, supported by two CB211 21-inch subs. Two Sentinel10 controllers provide amplification and processing.
The CR3 combines Alcons’ pro-ribbon technology with dedicated mid- and low-frequency sections, supporting natural dialogue, detailed musical textures and powerful effects. Together with the CB211 subwoofers and Sentinel controllers, the configuration is designed to preserve clarity and dynamics, from intimate scenes to demanding cinematic passages.
At the Lucas Theatre for the Arts, the cinema configuration builds on the venue’s existing Alcons house system. Twelve LR7 micro pro-ribbon line-array modules form the left and right arrays, each topped by one LR7B bass module, while three CRA24 Cinemarray systems form the centre cluster. This is supplemented by he venue’s BF181 and two BQ211 subwoofers.
For the festival, this installation will be expanded with 12 LR15 pro-ribbon line-array modules for the main-floor surround channels. Arranged in pairs at three positions on each side of the auditorium, these extend the pro-ribbon experience around the audience. Four additional CRS8 pro-ribbon surround systems, two per side, will serve the balcony.
‘We are incredibly grateful for our relationship with Alcons Audio and their continued support of SCAD and the Savannah Film Festival,’ says SCAD & SFF, Executive Director of Production, Josh Lotz. ‘We pride ourselves on providing the absolute best technology to showcase the artistry and creativity in our venues and Alcons consistently exceeds expectations on the audio side as well as the support side.’
Across both venues, the emphasis is on presenting dialogue, music and effects with the clarity and natural dynamics essential to cinematic storytelling. For a festival connecting professional filmmaking with creative education, faithful reproduction helps audiences appreciate the decisions made throughout production and postproduction.
Building on Alcons Audio’s existing relationship with SCAD and its involvement in the previous festival edition, the technical partnership supports a shared commitment to giving established and emerging filmmakers a platform where their work can be experienced with care and precision.
