Taiwan’s newly opened Taichung International Convention & Exhibition Center (TICEC) is destined to become one of the country’s premier destinations for international conferences, trade exhibitions, corporate meetings and large-scale events. Behind its modern design is an equally advanced A/V infrastructure built to support constantly changing room configurations, high-profile presentations, and seamless collaboration across the venue.
The centre’s distinctive ‘magic carpet’ architecture reflects Taiwan’s global ambitions while its diamond-level green building certification underscores a commitment to sustainability. One of Taiwan’s largest and most technologically advanced event venues, it features nine divisible conference rooms on the first floor that can operate independently or be combined into a large event space, while a separate multipurpose hall on the third floor accommodates larger gatherings and future uses. Each space needed to support high-resolution video, professional audio, and rapid room reconfiguration without introducing unnecessary complexity.
Equally important, operators needed the ability to independently route audio and video depending on each event’s requirements. Traditional matrix switching architectures would have limited that flexibility and added hardware, cabling, and management overhead. The venue also required central monitoring, security, and user authentication across a large, multi-switch Ethernet network while maintaining compatibility with equipment from multiple manufacturers.
Leading local integrator MAWAV won the A/V integration bid. To meet TICEC’s requirements, MAWAV’s installation team deployed more than 150 Dante AV-A Aavara PB9700DNT transmitters and receivers to create a venue-wide AV-over-IP infrastructure. The system delivers visually lossless 4K video with ultra-low latency over standard 1GbE networks, providing the performance required for keynote presentations, live broadcasts, and corporate events throughout the facility.
Because the entire system is built around the Dante ecosystem, video distribution integrates seamlessly with Dante-enabled audio devices from multiple manufacturers, including Dante AVIO adapters, as well as Yamaha, Bosch, and Shure endpoints. Rather than tying audio and video together through fixed switching hardware, Dante allows each stream to be routed independently. High-resolution video can be sent to displays and projectors while audio is simultaneously directed to DSPs, mixers, amplifiers, and other Dante-enabled devices, giving operators exceptional flexibility when configuring rooms for different events.
Centralised management is provided through Dante Domain Manager, which secures the network, authenticates users, and manages routing across multiple network subnets. Dante Domain Manager, combined with the Dante Managed API, allows third-party control and management platforms to securely integrate Dante network functions into a single, intuitive interface. Rather than switching between multiple applications, administrators can monitor system health, manage devices, adjust permissions, and control audio workflows through a unified dashboard that simplifies operation while hiding the complexity of the underlying network.
By combining Dante A/V transport, interoperable Dante-enabled products, and centralised management through Dante Domain Manager, TICEC has established a highly scalable A/V infrastructure capable of supporting virtually any event configuration. The deployment demonstrates how Dante’s open ecosystem enables manufacturers and technologies to work together within a single, unified network while providing the flexibility and operational efficiency demanded by today’s large-scale venues.
‘By combining Dante A/V video endpoints with Dante audio hardware and Dante Domain Manager, we were able to provide the Taichung International Convention & Exhibition Center with a future‑ready, fully unified AV‑over‑IP solution that meets the highest standards of performance, flexibility, and operational efficiency,’ says MAWAV CEO, Marco Zhou. ‘For a venue of this scale, that means unprecedented flexibility. Rooms can transform from a grand ballroom to independent breakout spaces with a single click, all while maintaining perfect audio‑video synchronisation across the entire Dante ecosystem.’
