Dresden-based event technology company Bayer Events has expanded its inventory with 16 VIO L1608 line array boxes from dBTechnologies, using one of the largest stages at the Canaletto Dresden City Festival to put the new VIO generation through its paces under real-word open-air conditions.
For main coverage, Bayer Events flew an eight-box VIO L1608 line-array per side – 16 modules in total across the left and right hangs. Three VIO X206 provided fill to the close field and at the edges of the stage. The low end came from 16 VIO S118R subwoofers, groundstacked in front of the stage. On stage, six VIO W15 served the acts as high-output wedges.
The system was networked via the A2Net protocol and controlled centrally with A2Net Control. Aurora Net gave Bayer Events end-to-end real-time monitoring of every module, together with flexible, precise adjustment of levels and system parameters – even as the acoustic conditions shifted in the densely built-up surroundings of Dresden’s old town.
‘With the new VIO L1608 we have deliberately gone for the next generation of the VIO series. The system won us over on its very first major outing at the Canaletto Dresden City Festival: the L1608 combines a compact format with a punch and a clarity you would hardly expect from a cabinet this size,’ says Bayer Events Project Manager, Kai Hentschel. ‘We have worked successfully with dBTechnologies for many years, and we are pleased that the L1608 now makes us even more flexible.’
