Originating in Seoul’s nightlife scene and following the success of venues in Seoul and Bangkok, one of Asia’s most distinctive nightlife brands has arrived in MU:IN Bali, with MU:IN Bali choosing a Crest Audio and Peavey sound system for its latest immersive club experience in Seminyak.

With its name is inspired by a Korean expression meaning ‘without boundaries’ – a philosophy reflected in a venue designed to blur the lines between cultures, musical genres and immersive visual experiences – MU:IN has built its reputation around high-energy entertainment and the convergence of music, technology and design. Creating an audio system capable of matching those ambitions presented a significant challenge.

Alongside the high SPL and low-frequency impact associated with an international nightclub, MU:IN sought the clarity and musicality that impresses internationally touring DJs and live performers. With this aim in mind, distributor and primary system integrator for the project, V-Series International, selected a chose Crest Audio and Peavey technologies.

At the heart of the main system are Crest Audio Versarray 112 MkIII line arrays, providing controlled dispersion and high-output coverage across the main dance floor. These are complemented by Crest Audio Versarray Pro 215 and Versarray 218 Sub MkIII subwoofers.

‘For MU:IN Bali, the project required extremely high dB levels while maintaining exceptional clarity and clean output,’ explains Stone Foo, Managing Director of V-Series International. ‘The Crest Audio Versarray and Peavey CPL+ series provided the perfect solution. We are very satisfied with the final result and look forward to many more successful installations in the future.’

Beyond the main dancefloor, the system has been designed to maintain the same quality of experience as guests move through different areas of the venue.

Peavey CPL 118B+ subwoofers provide additional low-frequency reinforcement, while CPL 10+ loudspeakers extend coverage into supplementary listening areas. Compact Peavey Impulse 8C loudspeakers are strategically positioned throughout VIP seating, circulation areas and other spaces where discreet installation is required without sacrificing audio quality. The result is a carefully zoned system that allows the intensity of the main club environment to be maintained while providing appropriate levels and coverage elsewhere throughout.

System control and mixing are handled by a Peavey Aureus 28 digital mixing console. Crest Audio PCX 88 DSP provides loudspeaker management, system tuning and signal routing across the installation.

Amplification is a combination of Peavey IPR2 7500 and IPR2 5000 amplifiers alongside Crest Audio Pro-Lite 5.0 and Pro-Lite 3.0 models, providing the output and dynamic headroom required for demanding nightly operation.

‘We chose to represent Crest because of its exceptional performance-to-value ratio,’ Foo says. ‘The quality and versatility of the Crest Audio product lineup enable us to deliver professional installations across corporate, hospitality, nightlife and major commercial infrastructure projects, including resorts and theme parks. The integration of Dante, AES67 and high-performance analogue also gives us the flexibility to design the most appropriate and efficient systems for our clients.’

For MU, that flexibility proved particularly valuable given the architecture and differing acoustic requirements throughout the venue. ‘MU means “without boundaries”, a philosophy that aligns perfectly with Crest Audio as we continue showcasing our capabilities around the world,’ says Akshay Vaidya, Director of Asia Pacific at Peavey Electronics. ‘The venue presented several exciting acoustic and installation challenges due to its unique layout. However, the versatility of the Crest Audio product line-up, combined with the expertise of V-Series International, enabled us to exceed expectations and deliver an outstanding result.’

The completed system has been designed to ensure the technology supports rather than overwhelms the experience. For Vaidya, the response when MU:IN Bali opened provided the ultimate validation of the installation.

‘Opening night was a tremendous success, providing guests with a truly exceptional audio-visual experience,’ he concludes. ‘We are grateful to MU:IN and V-Series International for selecting Crest Audio and Peavey as the audio solution for this landmark project.’
