Mabo Eventtechnik fielded a dBTechnologies VIO L1608 line array system for the the Schützenfest marksman's featival at the Lingen Bürgerschützen, an evening held each year at the EmslandArena.
The project was spearheaded by Mabo Eventtechnik’s Dominik Menebröcker, who used a fully networked VIO system comprising two flown line arrays of eight VIO L1608 elements, with low-frequency extension from four VIO S218 subwoofers and four VIO S118R subwoofers. Control and signal distribution were networked with individual enclosures addressed independently via an RDNet infrastructure and Aurora Net software, with A2Net sending digital audio to the PA.
‘What convinces us most about the VIO range is first and foremost the sonic quality — and the handling is spot on,’ says Menebröcker. ‘Especially with the L208, and now the L1608 too, the ratio of size, weight and output is just right. We’re often on the road with standard 3.5-tonne trucks, so dimensions and weight really matter. That was a key reason for investing in the L1608.
‘The event is a gala-style occasion, with corresponding demands on guests, crew and technology alike,’ he continues. ‘Just as elegantly as the guests turn out in formal evening wear, the atmosphere carried by the technical production needs to match that standard. This is exactly where the new L1608 excels: compact, powerful and sonically convincing.’
The partnership with dBTechnologies has a long history at Mabo. ‘We’ve been dBTechnologies users for many years,’ says Menebröcker. ‘dBTechnologies products were part of the inventory before I joined Mabo Eventtechnik in 2023. Both the handling and the build quality won me over, and because support has consistently been excellent, we’ve steadily expanded our dBTechnologies inventory ever since.’
With the deployment of the VIO L1608 at the EmslandArena, Mabo Eventtechnik enters the latest chapter of the partnership, demonstrating that compact dimensions and high output are no longer mutually exclusive in day-to-day mobile event production with dBTechnologies products.
