Hosting everything from dance and acting classes and live performances to services led by Anchor Point Church, the new headquarters of addiction recovery charity Betel UK, Anchor Point, is a multi-purpose space designed to be a creative community hub in the centre of Birmingham.

To meet the demands of dynamic and flexible environment, Betel needed a dependable, high-performance audio system capable of delivering clarity and impact across multiple event types. Recommended by a construction company working on site, Betel partnered with KV2 Audio installation specialist, NoiseBoys, to provide a system that combines power, versatility and professional-grade performance.

Anchor Point‘We were tasked with providing a system that is capable of delivering extremely high-quality sound throughout multiple spaces,’ says NoiseBoys Installation Manager, Josh Nisbet. ‘It had to be industry-recognised and rider-friendly so that it would be easy to use by those who hire out the space.’

As one building with multiple uses, several interconnected systems were needed to tie the zones together. KV2 Audio was chosen for the expandable Main Auditorium, theatre, and dance studio used by Anchor Point Church based on Betel’s previous positive experience with the brand. ‘

‘The church had used KV2 in the past and was keen for it to be installed again in the new building,’ says Nisbet. ‘For the main auditorium we chose the ES Series for its high output in a small footprint. It’s configured in a left-centre-right configuration to optimise coverage. Three ES1.0 loudspeakers serve as the main channels, delivering powerful and precise sound at the front of the space. Low frequency support comes from a combination of ES2.6 and ES2.5 subwoofers.’

To maintain clarity for audience members seated close to the stage, six ESD5 loudspeakers are set as front fill, with ESD10 loudspeakers deployed as delays for the rear of the room.

In the smaller dance and drama areas – used for the church services when the auditorium was undergoing renovation – are two ESD12 and two ESD10 loudspeakers, along with two EX1.5 subwoofers. These smaller areas can also open up to become part of the main auditorium, expanding its capacity from 600 seats to 1,000.

‘We have such a wide range of events taking place here,’ says Church Worship Director and Pastor, Tim Gardener. ‘The main auditorium spaces are used for events ranging from spoken-word, teaching and corporate training away-days, to weddings, gospel concerts, community theatre, dance performances, and everything in between – and the ES system consistently delivers outstanding results across them all. Speech is clear and intelligible, even in the largest gatherings, while live music has all the depth, power, and clarity you’d could ask for.

‘The new system gives me the confidence that we can support our creative team in whatever they dream up,’ he continues. ‘Immersive shows with cast members wandering amongst the audience, catwalk dance shows with a thumping DJ, and Christmas carols are just a few of the performance styles we have supported in recent months, each with unique challenges for staging and sound reinforcement that have been ably met by our KV2 system.’

Designed to be as flexible as the space itself, the KV2 system readily adapts to the needs of differing events, echoing Betel’s mission – to provide an accessible and inspiring hub for creativity and community.
