When the Chilean Army inaugurated the Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Santiage in July 2025, it marked the consecration of the country’s first institutional church and provided a spiritual home for service members and their families.

With its soaring laminated wood arches, 14 stained-glass windows, and 300-seat capacity, the church was a symbol of faith and national identity, but also presented a major acoustic challenge.

Santiago Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Carmen With a reverberation time of 4.5s, even the most carefully delivered liturgies were blurred, leaving parishioners disconnected from key moments of worship. To address this, Chilean HK Audio partner ProSound and distributor Setesa designed and installed a new sound system built around an HK Audio SI Series P10j.

The installation includes six SI Series P10j (in white) and four IL 80-TW loudspeakers. The compact format meant the system could be integrated discreetly into the carefully restored architecture, while still delivering the power and coverage required in the highly reflective space. From the front pews to the main entrance, every word now carries with clarity and balance.

‘I’ve known HK Audio products for a long time,’ says ProSound Chile Media Manager, Alfonso Verdugo. ‘The precision of their construction, together with their predictive software, gives me confidence that every installation will perform exactly as projected. In this case, the result is clear – the officiant’s voice is heard throughout the church and every part of the liturgy can be understood.’

The response of the client was immediate: ‘They congratulated us on the excellent sound quality and the ease of use of the system,’ Verdugo says. ‘For them, and for us as the provider and installer, the result has been excellent.’
