Part of a modernisation project at the De Kei theatre venue in Reusel, Netherlands, a dBTechnologies PA system has been installed by local A/V integrator GISB Audiovisueel and a team from dBTechnologies team.

A small-scale theatre and cultural venue that hosts a wide range of events spanning spoken word to live music, De Kei features a flexible layout used for theatre productions, musical performances, and presentations. To accommodate the varying demands of these uses, the system design focused on both intelligibility and musicality, ensuring clarity and impact in every seat of the house.

De Kei theatreDe Kei’s system highlights user-friendliness, and is suited to both amateur and professional users. This allows specialised technicians to put on a professional performance, while the local theatre club can manage everything independently.

The new set-up includes two VIO X12 full-range active speakers for the main FOH reinforcement combined as a stack with two VIO S118R subwoofers and six VIO X205 as infill and delays.

‘The VIO systems are ideal for extending coverage in such an intimate space without overpowering the room,’ says GISB Audiovisueel A/V specialist, Roel van Gisbergen. ‘Their size and flexibility make them a natural choice for front-of-house positioning as well as delay and front fill,’

The system was fine-tuned using dBTechnologies’ Aurora Net software, allowing precise alignment and optimisation of all components. ‘We created a multifunctional preset to ensure smooth transitions between different types of events,’ says Christian van de Pas, Systems Engineer at dBTechnologies. ‘Whether it’s a speech or a concert, the sound remains balanced and transparent.’

Through the intelligent system configuration and the ease of control provided by Aurora Net, De Kei now offers audiences a premium audio experience in line with its reputation as a vibrant community hub for arts and culture.
