Maltese rental company Tech+ has added a substantial complement of Martin Audio Wavefront Precision line array boxed, along with Torus and FlexPoint enclosures, in time to service the new XXL Techno techno festival. ‘We worked hard to get the equipment delivered in time for the event, and although we have other companies on the island who hire Martin Audio, Tech+ is the only one operating at this level of inventory,’ says Futuretech MD, Stefan Farrugia.

Run by Gabriel Mizzi, Tech+ was able to field hangs of eight WPC on each side of the festival’s beachfront stage at Little Armier Bay – one of two principal locations for the event (the other being the National Park in Ta’Qali) with others dotted around the island.

WPC, TORUS and FlexPoint fielded for new XXL Techno festivalWhile the WPC was powered by Martin Audio iKon iK42 Dante amplifiers in two-box resolution, eight SXH218, driven in bridge mode created the sub bass rumble necessary for the event. Additional pairs of FlexPoint FP12 provided front and rear fill – the latter directed towards the small audience area behind the DJ, ‘boiler-room’ style. Four Torus T1215 stacked in four SX118 subs then took over, providing monitoring on each side of the stage.

The new inventory was provided by Futuretech, Martin Audio’s local distributor. In addition to the loudspeakers themselves, the purchase included carts (for all 16 WPC elements, four per cart) and flightcases for the Torus boxes, as well as iK42 racks and other hardware, flying hardware for the WPC, covers for all the subwoofers and all cabling necessary to run the system.

Mizzi has previously carried out installations with the smaller CDD and Blackline series; however, this investment represents a major step up. ‘It has been a crazy journey so far. The Martin Audio system served us well at the XXL beach party, as well as at smaller venues using four or five boxes per side,’ he says. ‘We also deployed it also for Triip and Capital Radio Festival at Castello Zammitello and Tortuga beach. Now, we look forward to seeing what the future holds as we strive to cater for bigger and better events.’
