Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) has completed the transition of its Carl Tatz-designed Studio C to a full PhantomFocus MixRoom with the addition of the Argosy Carl Tatz Edition Workstation – ideally suited to PhantomFocus monitoring – along with the MixRoom’s PF eChair.
The University now boasts 11 PhantomFocus Systems to the benefit of both students and professors.
‘Studio C is predominantly a mix and overdub room, so the transition to the Carl Tatz Edition Dual 15 desk makes perfect sense,’ says Bill Crabtree, MTSU Director, M.F.A in Recording Arts and Technologies and Professor, Department of Recording Industry. ‘Students can mix on our Avid HD system or bring in their own laptop and plug-ins and enjoy very high-quality monitoring through the dual Phantom Focus system.
‘The monitoring is very accurate and uses dual 12-inch subwoofers paired with the Event Opals and the main Boxer loudspeakers. The ergonomics and minimized reflective properties of the desk are great allowing for easy reach and visibility of the patch bay and signal processors. I think this is now one of our best mix rooms.’
