Staged for a fifth consecutive year by Clubsound Management, the outcome of the Polish DJ Championships were eagerly awaited by the country’s clubbers. The showdown brought together the most talented club players to compete for the title of the Best in the Art. Past champions Mave, SPLT, PLK, and Wilga paved the way for the new champion to be announced at the Explosion Club inWarsaw’s Gocław district.
The semi-final auditions kicked off at 11am, featuring 20 contenders. In a unique format introduced in 2019, participants selected one of ten flash drives with music and had 20 minutes to prepare their ten-minute competition set. The jury, comprising renowned DJs, club residents, the event organiser and the Editor-in-Chief of Poland’s DJ title, Shining Beats, evaluated each performance. The top three DJs – Korn , DJ PLK and DJ Salis – earned a spot in the night’s final.
Arcade Audio, KV2’s local distributor, provided a KV2 ES loudspeaker system for the competition – a set-up that has proved its worth many times in the DJ and club world. The jury opted for relatively low sound levels during the auditions, as it occasionally exceeded 93dB in their centre box, yet the ES1.0 mid-high loudspeaker ensured prolonged listening comfort and precision for nuanced DJ techniques during the several hours of auditioning. The accompanying ES1.8 subwoofers delivered satisfying bass during high-energy performances.
Owing to its experience with the system in last year’s championship, the organiser didn’t even feel the need to install limiters for the DJ signal, thanks to the ES system’s headroom well above 20dB.
