Calling in Sonos Libra for design and installation services, the Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT) recently installed a new press conferencing room. The company needed a digital mixer capable of supplying 64 channels and offering Dante and Crestron integration. In response, Sonos Libra Project Manager Nattapoom Pumipuntu opted to build the system around Allen & Heath’s 96kHz Avantis mixer.

The room hosts gatherings from board meetings through to VIP events and conferences, and live music and entertainment. Avantis offers all the functionality and customisation needed without compromising the ease of use.

Thailand%u2019s PTT equips conference room with A&HThe console provides PTT with a flexible and powerful heart of the system, boasting continuity UI and extensive I/O options that suit the multipurpose nature of the venue. Additionally, A&H’s free Custom Control software enables highly customisable cross-platform control of the Avantis from iOS and Android devices, as well as from Windows and Mac computers.

Dante networking, via a Dante 64x64 card fitted in the Avantis, provides full integration with the PTT’s Crestron NVX system used to integrate audio and visual network streams throughout the facility. A DT164-W expander that PPT included in the audio package also connects to the console via Dante, providing 16 microphone preamps and four line outputs in an unobtrusive wall-mount format.

There are multiple DT02 output expanders around the room, which serve as cost-effective, compact Dante interfaces providing two XLR outputs where needed on the network. The interfaces are suited to a wide variety of fixed installations such as PTT’s where flexibility is required in the positioning of active speakers and other playback hardware within a building or room.

When the venue is in use as a conferencing room, the AMM (Automatic Mic Mixer) feature on Avantis is regularly used for more than 40 microphone channels. The AMM supplies a zero-latency solution for mixing speech applications such as meetings, conferences, broadcast and panel discussions.

‘I was really surprised how easily the Avantis was integrated within the Crestron control system, but also how having Custom Control could bypass the use of the Crestron system and dig into more advanced functions when needed,’ reports PTT’s in-house audio technician, ‘The superb audio quality when played through our Adamson sound system is impressive, and I would go so far as to say the upgraded conference room could be the best multipurpose room in the country.’
