The Beijing Trade Hotel recently welcoed the National People's Congress to its a event hall. The proceedings involved live music from a number of performers including pianist Yundi Li – all of which were served by a Kling & Freitag Sequenza 10 loudspeker system operated by Shanghai-based MYC Technology Co.

The 330m-high building with its 81 floors is presently the highest in Beijing, and provided an appropriate setting for the guests, including the Mayor of Chongqing and the Mayor of Beijing.

Alongside limiting the loudness of the event, the organiser required even coverage of the large room. To meet these needs, the 40m-wide stage was equipped with four K&F Sequenza 10N for the far field and two K&F Sequenza 10W for the close field. The compact dimensions of the line array system alowed the rig to fit the stage layout. Six K&F Sequenza 10B and two K&F Nomos XLC in cardioid mode provided low-frequency support. The cardioid distribution provides directional bass without creating unwanted ambient sound on the stage.

In total, 40 radio and hand-held microphones were used for the speakers and performers, who also required a high-quality monitor system on stage. This took the form of two Scena 15 cabinets.

All speaker systems were driven by a K&F SystemRack – the combination of the CD44 digital system controller with Lab.gruppen fp10000Q amplifiers allowed quick set-up and high performance of the system.

The highlight of the evening was a performance of ‘Me and my Native Country’ performed by the singers together with the Mayor of Chongqing, Bo Xilai.

Shanghai MYC Technology has handled exclusive distribution of Kling & Freitag systems in Mainland China, Macao and Hong Kong since September 2010.
