Queen’s Award for EnterpriseAmong receipents of this year’s Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the UK are pro audio companies DiGiCo and Prism Media Products. Both have earned awards in the International Trade category.

Having received an award in 2005 in the Innovation category, is the first time console manufacturer DiGiCo has won the award for International Trade, which recognises the company almost doubling its overseas earnings and exporting the vast majority of its products since its incorporation in 2002.

‘As a UK company, manufacturing in the UK, it’s especially gratifying and significant to be recognised by Buckingham and the board of the Queen’s Award Office in this way,’ says DiGiCo MD, James Gordon. ‘It’s testament to the strength of the DiGiCo team and to all our international partners, who have worked extremely hard to help us achieve this. We couldn’t have done it without them.’

‘In order to be considered for a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the category of International Trade, a company must show a substantial and sustained increase in export earnings over three consecutive 12-month periods, to a level which is outstanding for the products and services concerned, and for the size of the organisation,’ offers Prism Media Products Sales Director, Graham Boswell. ‘Prism Media Products certainly fulfils this brief. We have experienced six years of sustained sales growth and have more than doubled overseas sales, with 66 per cent of our sales now going to customers abroad.’

Prism Media Products performance is supported by 120 overseas dealers and its sister company in the US. ‘It is heartening to see our efforts recognised by the Queen, the Government and the wider business community,’ Boswell adds. ‘We are very proud of our achievements and, despite the difficult economic climate, we have real confidence in the future thanks to the determination and dedication of our staff and the quality and integrity of our expanding product range.’

DiGiCo’s first digital console was the D5 Live, which helped to change the way engineers regard mixing live sound. The company has since developed Stealth Digital Processing, which is used in its current SD Series of desks, and has taken the concept of digital mixing forward by increasing functionality, processing power and audio quality, and establishing the company as a market leader. ‘We’ve worked very hard to ensure that our products satisfy the needs of the engineer and that we provide excellent after-sales service,’ says DiGiCo’s Gordon. ‘Again, this is testament to our international distribution partners, who offer the same high quality of training and support to their customers as we do directly at DiGiCo.’

The Prism Media Products product range, meanwhile, includes the ADA-8XR multichannel audio analogue to digital converter, dScope Series III audio analyser, the Sadie range of digital audio workstations and location recorders and the Imerge range of movie and music-focused entertainment servers.
