The Volksoper in Vienna took advantage of its summer break in productions to modernise and partially renew its Nexus network – installed by Berlin-based manufacturer Stage Tec and in use since 2002 – and also supplement it with the addition of a router. The installation was undertaken with the Salzbrenner media systems house.
The project included testing the Nexus components from four Nexus Base Devices that had been in use for 17 years. After a factory overhaul and calibration, the majority of the components can still be used. In the new system a Nexus Star router was added in order to efficiently achieve the high number of fibre-optic connections required. By upgrading the Nexus software, the Volksoper can now use newer modules such as the XDIP Dante board and the XMIC 8-channel TrueMatch microphone converter.
‘The collaboration worked very well and professionally – only a few weeks were available for revision and expansion of the system,’ says Salzbrenner Media Project Manager, Paul Prager. ‘As with all theatre projects, the schedule had to be strictly adhered to so that the Volksoper season could begin on time after the summer break. Thanks to good preparation, timely delivery of the Nexus components, installation and system commissioning were completed on time.’
