Florida-based sound and lighting company Sound Media has upgraded its systems with Powersoft amplifiers.

Fitted with KDSP and KAESOP cards to enable them to run in conjunction with Powersoft’s Armonía Pro Audio Suite audio control and system monitoring software, the company has taken eight K10 and four K2 models.

‘We were interested in upgrading our amplifier systems, so we listened to amplifiers from a range of manufacturers before selecting the K Series,’ says owner Lennox Foster. ‘We did listening tests through our existing speaker inventory including JBL, Turbosound and MegaForce Tech models and the results were amazing. The Powersoft amplifiers consistently delivered superior sound quality, as they have a great slew rate and the damping factor is a thing to be heard. Our bass and sub-woofer cabinets deliver a thunderous, yet extremely tight bass sound with plenty of headroom to spare and the musical details reproduced were stunning. We are very happy we moved up to Powersoft. Our plan is to purchase an additional 12 K Series amps in the near future.’

The K Series amplifiers are lightweight and run at more than 90 per cent efficiency, giving Sound Media setup and operational choices not available from other amplifiers. This includes Powersoft’s Model Step-Up card system. ‘As our power needs increase, the modular design of the amplifier lends itself well to being upgraded in the future,’ Foster says. ‘The power and loudspeaker management capabilities, through Powersoft’s Armonía software, and digital input options with redundancy make these amps very attractive. The K Series has the one channel of processing per channel of amplification that we prefer to have in our multifunction amplifier racks. This is all accomplished within one rack space and weighing less than 27lbs per unit.’

According to Foster, hauling and setup are streamlined with Powersoft. The amplifier racks take up less room in the truck and easily stack on location. Because of the power efficiency, running AC mains distribution on site is easier with the added benefit of being able to run a large system in challenging locations.

‘We no longer need to haul around and set up external cross over and graphic EQ units with Powersoft amplifiers,’ adds Foster. ‘Because the amplifiers take away a lot of the design elements that we used to implement discretely, our setups are easier with uniformly better sound. Thank you Powersoft for leading the way in amplifier technology.’
