Slate Digital has unveiled the next generation of its microphone modelling ecosystem with the launch of the ML-1A microphone, Virtual Microphone System plug-in, and Radio France Signature mic pack of ten vintage models.
The ML-1A builds on its predecessor with a sleeker profile and a redesigned grille, plus lower self-noise (8dB) and an integrated pad switch offering an extra 10dB or 20dB headroom for high-SPL sources. With the -20dB pad engaged, the microphone can handle up to 145dB SPL for everything from delicate vocals to aggressive drum tracking.
The Virtual Microphone System (VMS) plug-in allows users to load a new mic model on any track like a standard processing plug-in, streamlining the recording workflow for both new and experienced users. This VMS plug-in update also introduces several powerful new features. These include Mic Blending, which allows users to morph between two mic models, interpolating frequency response, saturation and nonlinearities for unique tonal possibilities. The Mono-to-Stereo Widener can be used to add width to recordings without introducing phase issues in mono playback. And the Proximity Slider authentically reproduces the natural bass boost that results from close-miking with precise control.
Slate Digital has also announced the Radio France Signature mic expansion pack, introducing ten new mic models to the Virtual Microphone System.
