Performing to a capacity crowd at Melbourne’s National Theatre, Wally de Backer – performing as Gotye – was well supported by an intricate light show and slick sound system recently.

Montor City took the reigns with Event Equipment Melbourne supplying the equipment – a Nexo Geo S12 and RS15 groundstacked speaker rig, and a DiGiCo SD9 digital console with Stuart Padbury at the helm at front-of-house.

In all the loudspeaker set-up used five Nexo Geo-S1210 two-way, full-range boxes per side, three RS15 subs per side and a Geo-S1230 element positioned at the centre of the stage. By using Nexo’s NS-1 Speaker Emulation software, a suitable rig was eaily specified, which delivered even coverage throughout the venue maximising efficiency and effectiveness.

Gotye’s ecclectic blend of rock has earned him a dedicated fanbase who are discerning when it comes to his 'signature' sound. With that in mind, the Nexo/DiGiCo combination along with the skilled engineers from Monitor City created a winning formula that impressed punters, managers and Gotye alike.

Matt Dufty was the system tech for the night and Ade Barnard took the role of Production Manager/Monitor Engineer using a DiGiCo SD8.
