The rapid rise of India’s radio scene is old news to international broadcast commentators, but the requirement for the expertise to make the best of new technologies and equipment remains in short supply. With this in mind, Indian distributor, Sun Infonet, recently completed a series of training sessions in the key locations of Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Calcutta – targeting customers who are ready to move from traditional analogue to digital solutions.

‘Digital mixing is in its infancy in India,’ confirms Sun Infonet Director, Neeraj Chandra. ‘However, enthusiasm is high, particularly in the territories we were targeting with our roadshow.’

Together with console specialist Allen & Heath, Sun Infonet arreanged the seminars to cover three areas of mixing, represented by A&H’s Zed, GL and iLive/iDR systems. Attracting more than 100 attendees selected from Sun Infonet’s customer base, it covered live PA owner/operators, dealerships and installation contractors with broadcast experience.

‘Customers were very keen to get their hands on iLive – as well as Allen & Heath’s other new products – to try them out for themselves,’ says Neeraj Chandra. ‘Sales growth for Allen & Heath consoles in India over the past two years has been phenomenal, and the roadshow demonstrates Allen & Heath’s commitment to servicing its Indian customers.’

‘I thought there was a very good knowledge of digital and IT solutions, and several engineers who had operated competitor digital consoles were keen to come and compare their experiences,’ adds Allen & Heath product manager, Leon Phillips.
