An upgrade of technical equipment at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Airies has seen the installation of two DiGiCo Quantum mixing consoles and additional DMI cards for expanded network connectivity.
Supplied by Mahler Group, the Quantum 5 and Quantum 338 are expected to maintain the 15,000-seat capacity indoor venue’s position as a must-stop venue for touring international artists, as well as residencies from Argentina’s finest stars.
Equaphon Marketing Manager Walter Logarzo was part of the team overseeing the install, DiGiCo’s distributor in Argentina having supported many large installs across the region, including stadia and high-end venues.
‘This upgrade in the audio systems at the Movistar Arena aims to provide the very best environment for international touring,’ he says. ‘The arena is one of Latin America’s leading entertainment centres and will now be one of the best-equipped venues in the region.’
The Quantum consoles bring the power of DiGiCo’s FGPA platform to the Movistar Arena with the upgrade optimising operational flexibility for artists and engineers. The consoles are connected via three 32-bit SD-Racks and a 32-bit SD-MiNi Rack. They are also maxed out with DiGiCo’s DMI interfaces, including two Madi C cards, two Dante cards and two AES/EBU cards supporting multiple network protocols.
Logarzo notes that the investment will not only keep it up-to-date for international artists, but also future proof the audio set-up, promising a return on investment for years to come. ‘With this implementation, Movistar Arena reaffirms its commitment to technological innovation and sound excellence,’ he says. ‘The collaboration with DiGiCo and Equaphon strengthens a strategic alliance aimed at continuing to drive the evolution of professional audio in Latin America.’
This sentiment that is shared by Mahler Group Technical Manager Leo Aspra, who was instrumental in the installation of the consoles. ‘Features like MSE and the design of the console layout make it easy to adapt to the needs of any visiting artist and allows us to react with speed and efficiency,’ he says.
‘Knowing that we have world-class equipment in our venue gives us the confidence to continue delivering cutting-edge audio experiences for our audiences while also matching the high expectations of international touring artists. We can’t wait to see what 2026 will bring.’
