With a traditional American menu and stunning ocean view, Fort Lauderdale’s Rock Bar recently completed an extensive facility upgrade that includes DAS Audio E11evenSound loudspeakers and power amplification in its sound system.

E11evenSound at Lauderdale’s Rock Bar A/V integration company and consulting firm Unify Productions worked with Willy-Tech Services and DAS Audio to devise a set-up that would deliver the high energy atmosphere Rock Bar is known for. ‘The system is used to create a nightclub dance environment with a live DJ,’ explains Charlie Cortes, owner of Unify Productions. ‘Formats range from EDM, house, and mainstream music formats all the way through Top 40 dance. And now the energy level is really something to be experienced – thanks to the efforts of DAS Audio’s John Fiorito, who designed, managed, and commissioned the new system while Geovanni Ortiz of DAS Audio used Rational Acoustic’s Smaart software for speaker optimisation. Guillermo Rodriguez and Willy-Tech Services served as the certified installation team.’

In Rock Bar’s main room, which functions as the primary dance space, the system comprises 16 E11evenSound ES-158 3-way passive point source loudspeakers. For low frequency reinforcement, these are augmented by eight ES-221 passive subwoofers.

‘First and foremost, the quality and clarity of the sound system at high SPL levels – free of any distortion – is truly impressive,’ Cortes says. ‘The coverage pattern created by the eight pairs of ES-158 loudspeakers is amazing. Each of these pairs is accompanied by an ES-221 dual 21-inch sub, that seals the deal.’

For the venue’s main bar area, Fiorito specified four ES-10 loudspeakers paired with two ESBR-218 passive subwoofers. In the nearby equipment rack, power amplification and signal processing comes from two DAS Audio EP-2K4, two EP-6K4, four EP-10K4, four EP-14K2, and two EP-22K4 power amplifiers, delivering upwards of 120kW combined. Signal processing includes a BSS Audio Blu-100 signal processor and a Blu-Bob break-out box.

‘The E11evenSound speakers and amplifiers make this system one that any global circuit DJ would want to take for a ride,’ Cortes reports. ‘The equipment is ideal for club environments and is a perfect fit for Rock Bar.’
