First staged in 2008 as a dance club event by Ismaya Live, the Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) EDM event moved to the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) in 2014. Today, DWP is Asia’s second largest two-day dance music festival, attracting more than 90,000 revellers in 2016, with an estimated 20,000 travellers from 39 countries.

Djakarta Warehouse ProjectThe move to the enormous JIExpo outdoor stage area made clear the need for a sound system that was substantially more powerful than previously used. Clair Brothers was the first choice of Live Production Indonesia, based on its partnership with Clair Brothers rental partner, Total Audio.

‘I first experienced Clair Brothers speakers in 2012, and was immediately impressed,’ says Live Production Indonesia Managing Partner, Houwdy Boenadi. ‘Since then, I’ve come to the conclusion that there is no match for Clair Brothers signature sound, especially in a space this big. The audience area alone is 390m long by 100m wide. It’s a lot of space to cover.’

Using a combination of experience with Clair Brothers gear and acoustic ingenuity on a grand scale, the sound system for DWP was configures using 78 i218-LT/i218-M, 68 iS218-M, 12 i212-M, 16 CS218-M, four R2D-M and eight 12AM speakers – a total of 324 18-inch woofers and 344 amplifier channels. The FOH consoles used for the festival were a Midas Pro6 and Avid Profile, with an Avid Profile on monitors.

The Garuda Land outdoor stage sports an ornate design inspired by the mythical Garuda bird of the Indonesian coat of arms. The event attracts the world’s major EDM acts including Steve Aoki, Skrillex, Diplo, Major Lazer, David Guetta, DJ Snake and so many more. ‘With the best DJs and highest production quality sound, lighting and visuals, Djakarta Warehouse Project is one dance festival you must experience in your lifetime,’ Boenadi says.

‘Because this is our fourth year working this festival, many of the early challenges have been worked out,’ he reports. ‘Clair Brothers speakers require very little tuning and tweaking to result in a sound experience that’s perfect for everyone, including the acts up on stage. With the support of Total Audio and Wayne Grosser from Clair Brothers Australia, this year’s show was satisfying on every level.’

Live Production Indonesia Technical Director Ezar Darnadi has subsequently added Clair Brothers i218-M and CS218 speakers in the VIP areas around the Expo: ‘Working with Clair Brothers products puts our minds at ease – great speakers, great system and great support make them the top choice in Indonesia.’
