Foujan K8/K18Foujan has launched a line array, offering a combination of small modules for medium-sized interior applications.

The line comprises the K8 mid/high cabinet, loaded with two 8-inch mid-bass drivers and a single 2-inch annular diaphragm HF driver. Each cabinet will deliver 400W of continuous power and 1.2kW programme power. It operates as a bi-amplified plug-and-play system, with DSP inside a portable rackmount amplifier. Ten accompanying KB18 is a tapped single 18-inch subwoofer, which can be combined with the K8 to provide a complete full-range PA system, for use groundstacked or a flown cluster. Each stack of four K8 and two KB18 cabinets delivers 138dB without distortion.

The system has been field tested by Grammy 2015 Nominee Live Sound Engineer Michael Wilson on a Kitaro concert: ‘The loudspeakers were used as three-way fills, ground stacked in a 3,000-capacity concert hall,’ he reports. ‘In terms of performance, I found the high-end response rather flat and natural and not at all hyped or artificial. Mid and low frequencies were quite efficiently reproduced and did require a bit of attenuation and equalisation. This was mainly accomplished with the simple laptop controlled software that accompanies the system.

‘Overall, my impressions were of balanced and programmable sonic performance, with high-quality construction, and excellent attention to detail down to the hanging/mounting hardware. I will look forward to using the speakers again as a main speaker system where I can put them more to the test.’
