d&b audiotechnik has introduced MVR Exchange in the latest ArrayCalc beta, enabling users to import, export and update venue and loudspeaker system data using the open MVR (My Virtual Rig) standard.
Developed by Vectorworks, MA Lighting International and Robe lighting, MVR is an open DIN standard used by leading CAD, lighting and visualisation platforms. It provides a manufacturer-agnostic means of exchanging project information across various disciplines and includes venue geometry, staging, lighting and now loudspeaker system data.
Within d&b’s ArrayCalc software, users can import venue models from external applications, export sound system designs back into the wider production workflow and update data as designs evolve.
By connecting audio more closely with lighting, staging and venue design workflows, MVR Exchange reduces the need for manual model recreation and data transfer, helping teams stay aligned throughout the planning process. The result is more accurate system designs, improved coordination between departments and greater confidence in planning decisions. Exported loudspeaker data can also be visualised and coordinated within CAD environments, supporting tasks such as sightline verification, collision detection and project documentation.
‘MVR Exchange is about giving our users more time to focus on sound system design and less time transferring information between software platforms,’ says d&b Product Manager Software, Florian Hahn. ‘Rather than developing a proprietary plug-in for a single application, we have implemented support for an open standard directly within ArrayCalc. This allows venue and loudspeaker system data to become part of a shared production workflow, making it easier to exchange updates, reduce duplicate work and coordinate sound system designs with other disciplines more efficiently.’
MVR Exchange is available as part of the latest ArrayCalc beta version, allowing users to experience the new workflow in their own projects, share feedback and help shape its future development.
