DAS Audio has added a single 18-inch subwoofer system into its Action series of loudspeakers, targetting the mobile DJ and portable systems markets. The Action 118A is an active subwoofer system designed to extend the bass response of Action full-range cabinets. A 3.3kW peak amplifier drives a single DAS 18LX long-excursion driver incorporating a 4-inch voice coil for high power handling.

The speaker is powered by a class-D amplifier with switch mode power supply, digital signal processing and a 3.3kW peak power rating. The amplifier has a EQ switch, which allows selection of either a Deep sub-bass response or a Loud bass response. The system provides two balanced inputs with stereo filtered output connections for satellite systems. The variable crossover ranges from 100Hz-160Hz and can be defeated to offer stereo ‘loop thru’ connections. Gain control and polarity reverse add to control of the system.

The Action 118A cabinet is manufactured using birch plywood and is finished with a coating of highly-resistant ISO-flex black paint. Handles on the sides and the rear of the cabinet, along with two rear located wheels, make moving the box easy. A powder-coated steel front grille protects the front-facing components.
