Next-proaudio has announced the SP8, an active high-output, full-range two-way point source system for both portable and installed applications.
Low and mid frequencies are reproduced by two 8-inch long-excursion neodymium transducers, band-pass loaded in a dipole configuration. Featuring dual voice coil technology, the system achieves extended bass response, significantly reduced even-order distortion, and superior thermal management, delivering up to 20 per cent more acoustic output under sustained high-power conditions.
High frequencies are handled by a 1.4-inch exit neodymium compression driver with a 3-inch voice coil, ensuring detailed and smooth high-frequency reproduction. The system incorporates the same externally rotatable waveguide design found in the Portuguese company’s SP12, providing consistent dispersion and flexibility across different deployment scenarios.
Additionally, the dipolar low-frequency configuration enables directional control down to 500Hz, resulting in improved intelligibility and pattern control.
The SP8 is powered by a high-performance two-channel class-D amplifier delivering 3.5kW peak, combined with a 96kHz DSP platform fully controllable via Next-proaudio’s X-Net software.
The X-Net ecosystem enables intuitive system control and real-time monitoring of all connected loudspeakers, including automatic device mapping. Users benefit from advanced processing capabilities such as individual EQ, level, phase, and delay adjustments, as well as unlimited group creation. The system also features automatic fallback between analogue and digital inputs, ensuring maximum operational reliability.
The SP8 is intended for a wide range of applications, including corporate events, theatres, concert halls, sports venues, nightclubs, small festivals, live performances, mobile DJ set-ups and fill.
