RCF Sub 18-AS/Sub 15-AS

RCF Audio has launched the Sub 18-AS and Sub 15-AS high-performance subwoofers for portable use, claiming ‘outstanding sound quality, versatility and high power’, for small to mid-sized venues and mobile set-ups.

The Sub 18-AS is a portable 18-inch high-power active subwoofer for live sound applications, featuring a 2.2kW Class-D amplifier delivering sound pressure levels up to 135dB with exceptional headroom. The Sub 15-AS is a portable 15" high-power active subwoofer also for live sound applications.

RCF Sub 18-AS/Sub 15-AS For extended bass and enhanced performance, RCF has remove the high-pass filter, replacing it with BMC (Bass Motion Control), a newly advanced woofer excursion management feature allowing the loudspeaker to handle the lowest audible frequencies without affecting woofer stability, with extended linearity and better sound integrity.

BMC method works by creating a complete map of the dynamic behaviour of the woofer, to generate a custom algorithm that only limits over-excursions. This gives freedom of signal reproduction to the transducer. Where high-pass filters normally protect the woofer motion from becoming destructive but change the phase behaviour, the BMC algorithm offers a progressive alternative.

Both models have intuitive rear panel controls, including volume, polarity and low-pass frequency adjustment. Their connection panels offer versatile options with mono/stereo Combo inputs, XLR stereo link and XLR crossover outputs.

The subwoofer enclosures use durable all-plywood construction with ergonomic carrying handles to allow easy set-up and tear-down. An M20 pole mount on top supports full-range speaker cabinets.

RCF amplifiers are designed according to EN62368-1 for safety, and carry a Switch Mode Power Supply section joining high efficiency with minimum weight.
