Mackie has released ThumpSub Go, a battery-powered portable subwoofer, targeting musicians, DJs and live sound.
ThumpSub Go combines two battery compartments for up to 12 hours of continuous use from two rechargeable GB-200 batteries. Since the sub also works with a single battery, it’s possible to charge a second battery elsewhere, then hot swap without the unit powering down. ThumpSub Go includes one GB-200 battery for up to six hours of battery life with an optional second battery available separately.
ThumpSub Go can be deployed flat and placed out of sight under tables, stages and DJ stands, and works equally well vertically, making it easy to fit into narrow spaces.
Mackie designed ThumpSub Go as a companion to the Thump Go battery-powered loudspeaker, but it’s equally effective for adding bass reinforcement to Thump210, Thump210XT, ShowBox or any portable loudspeaker with up to a 10-inch woofer.
‘There are a lot of battery-powered speakers on the market, but very few battery-powered subwoofers to go along with them. It’s a huge gap in portable PA systems,’ says Associate Director of Product Development, Ty Vaughn. ‘Adding a sub makes you realize how much low frequency content you’ve been missing.’
ThumpSub Go can stream music wirelessly from phones, tablets and laptops with Bluetooth. Since any streaming audio gets passed from ThumpSub Go to any connected loudspeakers, this subwoofer can create a complete Bluetooth-capable PA system even if the loudspeakers don’t have built-in Bluetooth.
Along with dual 8-inch woofers, ThumpSub Go has inputs and outputs for a mono, stereo or zone PA system with a phase inversion switch to solve phase cancellation issues. High-pass and full-range modes allow users to optimise the balance between the subwoofer and connected loudspeakers.
