PSI Audio has introduced the A326 D-Rex intended as a complement to its A226 Main monitor speakers.
As the A226 Main frequency response extends down to 20Hz, the A326 D-Rex (Dynamic Range Extender) is less a subwoofer than a Dynamic Range Extender, considerably enhancing the system accuracy to 100Hz.
The A326 D-Rex works in tandem with the A226 Main from PSI Audio as a single unit with the D-Rex fully aligned with the main monitor speaker in both frequency and phase. Combined, the set-up is capable of up to 126dB peak sound pressure but, importantly, claims outstanding dynamic transparency, clarity and power in the low frequencies.
Like all PSI Audio speakers, the combination of A226 Main and A326 D-Rex adhere to the ambition of neutral sound recreation. A further benefit of this principle is the D-Rex is compatibility with PSI Audio monitor speakers across the entire range, making it possible to mix and match speakers for large set-ups.
While it would certainly be possible to construct an immersive set-up completely with A226 Main and A326 D-Rex, spatial or other constraints may dictate the use of a variety of speakers: A226 Main with A326 D-Rex for the front left and right, and A21-M, A17-M or A14-M for the surrounds and ceiling speakers in an immersive listening environment. Since all PSI Audio loudspeakers are similarly accurately, this kind of mixing and matching keeps the sonic image consistent.
