The Waldorf Blofeld software wavetable synthesiser plug-in is now available for iPad, with AUv3 support.

The iPad version promises an ‘exact’ emulation of the plug-in previously available on macOS and Windows to the tablet. It offers the same multitimbral engine with VA and wavetable synthesis, along with expanded features.that can load classic waveforms (sine, saw, triangle), wavetables and samples with parameters such as wave scan and FM for deeper editing. Both the plug-in and iPad version offer comprehensive management of wavetables and samples, including a built-in wavetable tool that loads user wavetables into the synth.

Waldorf Blofeld for iPadWaldorf has integrated a dedicated sampler manager into the synth’s architecture, which allows users to import, tweak and manage samples. The mixer offers cross-modulation between Oscillators 2 & 3, as well as oscillator sync and a ‘multicolour’ noise generator.

Each of the dual multimode filters offers various modes, including an emulation of the PPG low-pass filter. The switchable drive adds warmth and character to the sound, and filter FM makes it more unpredictable.

Like the hardware, Waldorf Blofeld has four multimode envelopes (for amplifier and filter, and two mappable) and three LFOs. These can be routed directly to the parameter in the respective section, or via an advanced modulation matrix.

Waldorf Blofeld supports .syx, .mid and wav files, and allows users to determine index and cycle length. The same tool also offers an export wavetable to hardware function.

Alongside the iPad release the Blofeld plug-in will be updated to v1.1.1, offering faster creation of multi-sounds, and improved preset browser filters, alongside bug fixes and maintenance.
