Melbourne Instruments has released advanced Logic Pro integration for its Roto-Control motorised software and hardware Midi controller, expanding its successful with Ableton Live and Bitwig Studio.
Roto-Control presents eight touch-sensitive motorised knobs – brushless drone motors with proprietary contactless optical sensors – and nine high-resolution IPS LCDs and 16 backlit RGB LED buttons for parameter recall and haptic feedback via Midi over USB and 5-pin Midi DIN In/Out thru.
Mix mode mirrors Logic Pro’s session track names, colours and order automatically, providing level, pan, sends and automation alongside ready access to track selection, paging, mute/solo/arm switching and dedicated Track Focus.
Plug-in mode allows users to browse and select Logic Pro instrument and effect plug-ins using simple touch-and-learn mapping for any parameter, with up to eight pages of controls per plug-in stored on the device, plus bypass/select controls – all mappings being saved on Roto-Control and usable across Logic Pro projects on any computer.
Logic Pro’s Smart Controls are automatically mapped to Roto-Control, controlling up to 16 Smart Control parameters for working with instruments, macros and Midi effects, available in both Plug-in mode and the dedicated Smart mode itself.
Roto-Control can be used to customise labels, colours, haptics and steps for each control, while play/stop/record, transport, auto-punch and playhead controls are accessible from any mode. a
Roto-Control is available for US$399 (excluding tax) in the US and Canada, Aus$619 (including GST), €372.35 (MSRP excluding VAT), US $469 in Japan/Asia and £389.
