Danley Sound Labs has released the OS-PWR, a weatherised outdoor power amplifier engineered for the elements.
‘The OS-PWR amplifier is a solution primarily driven to development for the sports and outdoor market,’ says Danley Sound Labs Head of Engineering, Bill Johnson. ‘The amplifier is housed in a way to keep the amplifier cool in the summer and to protect it from the elements.’
The OS-PWR amplifiers are housed in a UV-resistant, fibreglass-reinforced polyester enclosure, with a fully gasketed door, drip rail and NEMA 3R/IP24 rating. They can be pole-mounted or wall-mounted, and have cleanable rain-shrouded vents. In addition, the OS-PWR enclosures use quarter-turn locking latches and cable gland nuts for sealed and secure connection.
‘Getting power to the pole position where the loudspeaker typically is isn’t usually the challenge as power is typically already there for the lighting,’ Johnson says. ‘The challenge is getting the audio signal to the remoted amplifier. With the Wireless Link System, we can just broadcast the signal across the field to the amplifier. It’s very clean and simplifies the installation for all parties involved.’
The OS-PWR line-up comprises the OS-PWR-2 which offers a 2x 1.5kW at 8Ω, or the OS-PWR-3 with up to 3kW on Channel C. Both are served by 96kHz, 64-bit digital signal processing with 2,000-tap FIR filtering and real-time monitoring. The DSP can be programed directly, and users have the option to recall predefined presets quickly through the push buttons on the front panel.
OS-PWR amplifiers include USB and two-port Ethernet switch, offering easy daisy chain connection for control and monitoring of loudspeakers through an application.
With USB and ethernet daisy-chaining, control and monitoring can be via the amplifier’s software. Both modela can also be fitted with the OS-RSX receiver for the Wireless Link System.
