Repositioning itself from broadcast specialist to in mainstream pro audio, UK interface specialist has opened a new website.

4HM website‘When 4HM launched with our first product, the SAM64, a quad SDI-to-Madi converter/de-embedder, it was pretty clearly aimed at the broadcast sector,’ says 4HM Director, Craig Lovell. ‘Since then, and as the Madi renaissance has really taken hold, the focus of our latest product developments has been to widen our appeal so that they are equally applicable in whatever environment Madi is found; whether it is broadcast, within live sound or in installed sound’.

The 4HM line includes Madi-Mon, which permits the monitoring and interrogation of incoming Madi streams (including embedded data), full and simultaneous conversion of up to 64 channels to both AES/EBU and AES3-id formats, Madi-to-Madi format conversion and other features. The the new version of the MA64 comes with sample-rate conversion.

‘The new version of the MA64 is no longer just being used as a 64-channel Madi-to-AES converter, but also as a device to help resolve remote sync issues’ Lovell says. ‘Quite often there is a need to run fibre over considerable lengths. This is fine and we can provide both mulit-mode and single-mode fibre solutions depending on the requirement. However, the issue is maintaining synchronisation across all the devices at the remote location. This is achieved by the MA64 providing derived and accurate word clock and AES clock outputs, all synchronised to the incoming Madi stream. It is from these sync sources that additional digital audio devices can be synchronised, therefore negating the need to add additional and costly cable runs.’

The new website is now live with full details on the company’s product range.
